Holland, —, [note] the author of the Houlate, a dull, allegorical poem, is spoken of by Dunbar
and Lindsay in terms of praise,
which are not sanctioned by any thing in that production. He may, however, have written other
works, now lost. “The Houlate” is preserved in the
Bannatyne Collection, [note] and has been republished by
Mr. Pinkerton. [note] It appears to have been written
between 1450 and 1455.
